Session Expectations

Families - Expect to have some fun.  Expect for it to be less stressful and more unique of an experience then you’d have in a chain studio. We’ll decide ahead of time where to meet and will be there about 15 minutes ahead of our scheduled time.

If you have small children, we usually bring an assistant to help so you can relax, which will be important for getting a good picture of the whole family.  Family pictures can be very stressful for parents, but we want you to leave it to us to get your child in the right place with the best expression so you can focus on your own contribution to the pictures. We’ll start with the family shots first if everyone is ready, and then smaller group shots, individual shots, and couple shots (within session time constraints).

If a child is particularly squirmy, we will just follow him or her around as unobtrusively as possible with the camera – this is great for capturing sibling interactions also.  We try to be sensitive to the needs of your child, and if they seem worn out we can choose to either be done or take a break.

We will focus on getting at least one cohesive picture of your family all together, and then some great professional candid shots.

High School Seniors & Individuals - This is a fun, low-stress experience.  We’ll try out a couple of different locations, and you should bring a few of your favorite outfits to change into (read the guidelines for clothing here) - we’ll find places for you to change along the way or you can return home for clothing changes.

Babies - Babies are often our favorite subjects.  Expect to take a lot of breaks during the session, for clean up, diaper changing, nursing, and short naps (especially if we want some sleeping pictures).  We factor this into the time we spend with babies and are flexible to accommodate their needs. Just let us know during the session if you think your baby needs a break.  Their schedule will be the main factor in choosing a good time of day for the session.
